Loved this – I’m going to try it. Do you have the instructions written out somewhere? I am about to start cutting from my fat quarters but was curious how many strips to cut. I guess I’ll freeze the end frame and count what you have. Thanks for another great tutorial. You rock!

There are 12 braid pieces cut one way and 12 braid pieces cut reversed on from the template. We include a traceable pattern and instructions in our Summer 2013 Quilting Quickly magazine and we also offer the pattern in our shop here: http://www.missouriquiltco.com/shop/detail/11862

  • aww I’m with Susan, I had to count them, I was waiting to hear the instructions on the strips, I have no idea how long to make them. I don’t have the binding tool so thought I would try one of my accuquilt dies but I don’t have one to make those either. I love it!

When I made this, I cut my strips the same size as the square, 8 1/2 inches. Worked perfectly when I trimmed it down to put the side strips on. Easy peasy!

The binding tool is 8 3/8″ long to the tip. At 6.25″ there is a 45 degree angle, that meets the top of the tool 1/4″ in from edge. Hope that makes sense. Really enjoying making these as Christmas gifts! I used the binding tool to make the angle but didnt cut the strips off at the end which made a much longer strip, around 11″ so made my centre square the same.
They look great but I could really use your help (tutorial) for binding the corners once I have quilted it Jenny.

  • Marty

Love this. Do you actually use a 8-1/2″ center or 8-1/4″ center. I think you said both on the tutorial.

    • Linda Sullivan

      I used 8 1/4 and it worked.

  • Patricia Madrid

you should put a button “click here to buy this binding tool”….is there only one size

  • Ron Bouchard

I watched the tutorial making the table runner w/the binding tool. It was easy and fun! BUT…WHAT is the name of the quilt hanging on the wall behind you in the tutorial? I’m not into white quilts but that one is lovely! Thank-U. I’d make that one.

I just found your site and so far very impressed! I love this table runner and can’t wait to get the binding tool. My question is, is there a way to make placemats to match?

  • Reba Swinford

How can I enlarge the runner? what size strips do you us on a 12 inch center square? Please email me at quiltmimi@charter.net TIA Reba
