[Music] hi everybody I'm Natalie and today we are going to learn the couching Stitch so couching Stitch is great for adding texture and uh you're going to start by putting in the larger piece of yarn or floss or whatever it is that you're going to stitch over so in this case I'm just using a piece of yarn so now I'm going to start by adding my thread my floss and I'm going to come back right on the line underneath the yarn and we're going to go straight over it to create a little Stitch that basically holds that yarn in place so then we're going to pull that tight and it's going to create a little a little Stitch that goes over and these these stitches can actually be as close together or as far apart as you'd like them to be that's entirely up to you but you're just going to go right back in next to where you your Stitch came out to create these little stitches and it does doesn't matter actually if you go top to bottom or bottom to top that's up to you because all you're doing is attaching that thicker um piece of thread or floss it could be um J yarn whatever you want it to be but you can see if I move the the um yarn out of the way you're coming up on the line underneath and then wrapping around it and going back through right next to where your initial um thread came through the the fabric and it just makes a cute little detail this would actually be really fun for outlining um doing like a monogram or any kind of fun design on your project it's super simple and I think makes a really great uh really great effect for embellishment and you can see I'm just eyeballing it if you wanted your your little um I don't know what to call these your little stitches if you wanted them to be an exact distance apart you could go through and Mark it like every quarter of an inch or farther apart or closer however you want it to look [Music] and that's it you're going to knot both of your pieces on the back and that is the couching Stitch
