Valentine's Day is always festive at Misty's house and she wanted a new table topper to celebrate! So she took one fun charm pack and came up with this project!
First up, you'll make the X block. You'll need four squares from the charm pack for the X. Then she takes some of the lighter squares in the charm pack and cuts them into smaller 2.5" squares so she can snowball the corners.
If you have directional fabrics, take care to sew them so they show correctly! Now you'll just arrange them (rotate some!) to create your X and sew your four patch block together, nesting your seams to reduce bulk.
Now you'll make the heart block. First you'll make two half square triangle units using four charm squares - two of the darker and two of the lighter print. This will create the point at the bottom of your heart.
For the top of the heart you'll sew your "mountain peak" blocks. Take two red charm squares, and four of the smaller background triangles. Add two triangles to the top edges of the charm squares and sew them from corner to corner. Trim the excess fabric and press the seams open. Now assemble your block and sew together, nesting seams to reduce bulk.
Make two each of the heart blocks and two each of the X blocks.
Next you'll work on the sashing and cornerstones for between the blocks. Misty used the remaining charm squares, cut into 2.5" squares and 2.5" x 5" strips in between. Misty chose red and black for the cornerstones, and the white background fabrics for sashing.
