Honeycomb Tumbler Quilt

[Music] hi I'm Jenny from the Missouri Star Quilt Company take a look at this darling little quilt behind me isn't that so cute we made this using two charm packs only and the fabric is called Cold Spring dreams and it's by Mary Maguire for RJR and it's just adorable and we thought that it would work well with our Tumblr ruler so we took our two charm packs and our Tumblr ruler and we turned it on its side to make this new cool looking honeycomb effect so to do that you're going to need a Tumblr ruler and you're going to put it on your charm pack and you'll see that our little Tumblr ruler is set just perfect for the charms with very little waste so you can see you just have a little tiny bit of waist here at the bottom of your charms we're going to go ahead and trim that off and it will give us this Tumblr shape right here so so the key to this quilt really is in the layout so what you're going to do is you're going to lay out all your pieces and you're going to match your pieces together like this and then the next row is staggered so it starts off with a half piece but when you sew them together you're going to sew them together in rows like this because that will keep you from having to sew the up down row so let me show you just quickly how this is sewn together so we're going to go ahead and put some of these pieces out like this and I'm going to do just two of them which means that the beginning of this row I'm going to use a half piece like that then we've got our big pieces because your pieces that are matching they sew together on the on the uh the big side so here's this little one there we go like that so you can see how cute that's going to be and it's so quick and easy if you need a quick little quilt this is the one a quick little quilt that's just a little more Pizzaz to it so that's just how you lay it out just like that now if when you go to finish it you can um we just cut our straight off here so it gives it a good straight line for you to put your borders around your sides are already going to be straight but you're going to need to cut that off on the bottom so remember for this quilt you're just going to need two charm packs tumbler ruler a little bit for your border and binding and you're good to go and we hope you enjoyed this tutorial on the honeycomb quilt from the Missouri Star Quilt Company
