Cut 8 squares - 2.5" x 2.5" in White
Mark the diagonal seams.
Cut 4 squares - 4.5" x 4.5" in Green Floral.
Sew white squares to the top two corners of each green block. Trim excess fabric, and press the corners open (creating a green arrow with white corners).
Cut one square - 4.5" x 4.5" in Pink Floral.
Place Pink Floral at center, and green points at top, bottom and both sides, then star points in the corners. Sew squares together in rows, then sew the rows together, taking care to nest your seams.
For the Scrappy Negative Star:
Cut 8 Squares - 2.5" x 2.5" in White
Mark diagonal lines on the back of each square.
Cut 1 white square, 4.5" x 4.5"
Cut 8 squares - 4.5" x 4.5" in assorted prints.
Lay out the nine patch block with the white square at the center and the assorted prints around it.
Then add smaller white squares to the top, bottom, right and left squares closest to center and sew on diagonals to create star points. (What remains will be a white star within a scrappy border - your negative space!)
Trim away the excess corner fabric and assemble your nine patch.
