Erica's tips for choosing fabrics:

* First she looks at the pattern to determine what she needs to complete her project.
* She selects a bunch of fabrics that have the look or the theme of what she's going for. She often shops her stash, but you can branch out and purchase a collection as well!
* If your project has small pieces, pick a smaller print so they can pop!
* Look at how the fabrics mix - colors, patterns, picking up hints of other fabrics you already like!
* Lay fabrics next to each other like they would appear in the project to see if there's enough contrast, or enough similarity.
* Open your pieces up so they are approximately the size you'll be seeing in your project, relative to the other fabric sizes.
* Once you've chosen your fabrics, starch the small piece to keep them true to size.
