Materials you will need:
1 1/4 yards of cuddle minky fabric for the front
1 1/4 yards of cuddle minky fabric for the back
Scissors
Sewing machine
Coordinating thread
Pins
Ruler
Fabric pen or chalk
Step 1: Cut the fabric
Cut the front and back fabric to the desired size of your blanket. Your back fabric will need to be larger than your front fabric on all sides - by the amount you want it to fold over and "bind" the front.
Step 2: Mark the corners of the back fabric and sew right sides together along the 45 degree line to create mitered corners.
Step 3: Trim excess fabric from the corner seams and turn the corners out.
Step 4: Nestle the front fabric inside the back fabric (wrong sides together) and ensure the binding covers the edges of the front fabric.
Step 5: Use a wider stitch (zigzag, serpentine, etc) to topstictch the binding edges, quilting through all three layers of fabric.
Step 6: Enjoy your new blanket!
Your self-binding blanket in cuddle minky fabric is now complete! Enjoy your soft, cozy, and stylish new blanket.
