1. Erica likes to use Best Press on all her fabrics before she cuts! She sprays one side and presses it to give them a little more body.
2. When working with Layer Cake Squares, remember that they're not always quite 10" x 10", but you always want to square them up to give yourself precise blocks!
3. Most layer cakes have pinked edges - where do you measure from? You can square them up if you like, but measure from the "mountain" point (not the "valley).
4. Save your squares when you're cutting this project - you could make a matching tote bag!
5. Save yourself some time - use your big squares to can make 8 at a time half square triangles units!
6. Erica really likes spinning the seams at her intersections to reduce bulk. To do this she first presses her seams so they nest. Then she pulls the stitch at the end (that's in the seam) so she can press the seams completely open.
7. To match seams, fold shapes in half and give a quick finger press. Then you can match those points!
