1. Each pattern has a download code so you can download and print all the pieces for the pattern.
2. The Quilt Cadet series recommends using a 3/8" seam allowance and using a 90/14 sharp needle. These are because you're working with thicker fabrics.
3. Place your paper pattern pieces with all the fabric cuts and keep them together throughout the process to keep yourself organized!
4. Press your pieces before you sew (and after) to keep things nice and flat as you sew.
5. Use as few, or as many, pins as you need to keep things lined up!
6. Be sure to clip your curves so they'll turn out more smoothly and lay nice and flat.
7. To find the middle of any piece, just fold it in half and finger press (or iron) to create a small mark. Then you can line up your pieces using that mark and they will be centered!
8. Keep a fabric pen or chalk handy to make marks on your fabric (chalk shows up better on dark prints!)
9. Always make sure that your straps are out of the way before you sew, so you don't catch them in your seams.
10. Use interfacing on your lighter pieces (the lining fabric).
11. When adding the lining, start matching at the seams and then ease the seam together from there.
Enjoy your new backpack!
