Liz starts by taking her Apple Core template and using it to cut a piece of vinyl from Missouri Star's new vinyl collection. She uses her rotary cutter and a quilting ruler, along with the template.

Find the center of the apple core so you can line it up roughly center with your zipper. Mark the center of your zipper with clips. Take the outside of the vinyl and set it up so it's facing the back of the zipper. Clip it together, bending the zipper around the rounded edge of the vinyl. You will be stitching this with the zipper down, towards your machine.

To sew with vinyl use a slightly longer stitch length (Liz uses 3). Switch to your zipper foot. Pro tip: Liz adds a bit of masking tape to her zipper foot which will build a little bit of grip so that your vinyl doesn't stick to your zipper foot.

Line it up so you're sewing at the edge of the vinyl and through the zipper. Go slowly and it sews easily, just like regular fabric. Just finger press your seams open (do not iron!) or use a hair dryer to add just a bit of heat. Add a second line of stitching to take the zipper edge down, backstitching at both ends.

Next you're going to sew the opposite end of the bag to the opposite side of the zipper. Repeat the process as before. To topstitch, you'll need to open the zipper. Also remember to trim all your threads as you go so you don't end up unable to do so later in the project.

Next you'll sew up the two side seams. Trim the excess zipper tabs and now it's time to box the corners! Use a clip to mark 1/2" from the point. Backstitch at each end. Trim your threads, and then the point down to a 1/4" from the seam.

Now it's time to turn your zipper pouch right side out! Use your fingers to poke the corners and you're done!
