To sew a pillowcase to sleep on, you'll need some soft, breathable fabric that is comfortable to sleep on, such as cotton or linen. Here are the steps to follow:
Measure your pillow: Measure the dimensions of your pillow. For example, if you have a standard size pillow, it will typically be around 20 x 26 inches.
Cut the fabric: Cut two pieces of fabric that are each the same size as your pillow, plus an additional 4 inches in length and 1 inch in width. For example, if your pillow is 20 x 26 inches, you will need to cut two pieces of fabric that are each 21 x 30 inches.
Place the fabric right sides together: Place the two pieces of fabric on top of each other with the right sides facing each other. Pin the sides and bottom edges together, leaving the top edge open.
Sew the seams: Using a sewing machine or needle and thread, sew a straight stitch along the pinned edges with a 1/2 inch seam allowance. Backstitch at the beginning and end of the seams.
Finish the seams: To prevent fraying, finish the raw edges of the seams with either a zigzag stitch or an overlock stitch.
Turn the pillowcase right side out: Reach inside the pillowcase and pull the fabric through the open end until the right side is facing out.
Press and iron: Use an iron to press the seams flat and to smooth out any wrinkles.
Finish the open end: Fold the raw edges of the open end inward by 1/2 inch and then fold again by 1 inch. Pin in place and sew a straight stitch along the folded edge to close the opening.
Finish the pillowcase: Turn the pillowcase right side out and your pillowcase is complete!
Now you have a comfortable and breathable pillowcase to sleep on. You can experiment with different fabrics and colors to create a variety of pillowcases to suit your style.
