Today Karen uses the binding strip method with scrappy strip sets in her blocks.

1. Choose a block size that can fit easily in your sewing machine and for which you have a ruler to easily trim.
2. Stick to one type of batting per project because batting can shrink at different rates.
3. In this method you'll be quilting as you sew your strip sets together right onto your quilt sandwiches!
4. Get your machine ready for quilting - use a quilting needle, a walking foot and set your stitch length to 2.5. Select a bobbin thread color that works with your backing.
5. After you've finished quilting and trimming your blocks it's time for binding!
6. Gather fabric for binding strips - either yardage or leftover jelly roll strips. You'll need 2 for each seam. Consider using a darker color to set off your blocks. Be sure to change your bobbin thread to match your binding.
