Embroidery 101 we are going to talk all things embroidery.
So let's start with what is embroidery? Embroidery is embellishing on fabric or other products. So it's taking through thread and stitching it onto fabric. You can stitch onto other things like tennis shoes or hats or sweatshirts. Basically putting thread onto whatever you can stick your needle through. So it's a fun way to add detail and beautiful designs to your projects.
Now don't get overwhelmed by all the things on the table. There's a lot of information and a lot of products here, but I am going to go through each set of products in depth. We have lots of little videos covering what types of fabrics that you might want to use for your embroidery and hoops.
You know hoop sizes, different product types, whether it's wood or plastic. We're going to talk about stabilizers. Whether you want to use a fusible or a peeling stick or something water soluble it's all going to be covered. We go over pens and marking pencils, we'll talk about needle sizes. What's a good needle to use? What the different size eyes mean and the numbers. And then thread storage. We have products for that and we'll talk about what fits where and when you would want to use one of these little bobbins to store your thread. We talk about the difference between embroidery floss and Pearle cotton, when you would want to use one versus the other. There's great needle minders that are magnetic and keep you from losing your tiny scissors or your needles.
And then if you're stitching in an area that doesn't have great lighting, you're going to want to improve that. We've got wonderful lights with magnifiers. This one is a tabletop and then we've got a floor one. We have things that can clip onto things or small things if you just want to have something that's super mobile, you can carry around with you.
Okay, so don't be overwhelmed! If you just want a kit to get you started,
we've put one of those together for you. It has everything that you need to
complete your first embroidery projects and I hope that you're going to love it. We've put together some great videos teaching stitches to get you started and if you have any other questions just drop them in the comments. I'd love to answer them!
