1. Press your seams open so when you quilt the pouch it will lay nice and flat!
2. To keep your layers together easier it helps to press. Minki prefers non-fusible because it will require less ironing long term - she just irons at the beginning to help everything hold together nice and flat.
3. You may wish to use Wonder Clips for this rather than pins due to the thickness of the foam.
4. Minki prefers to quilt small objects using straight lines about 1/2" wide.
5. Choose your thread color so it will work well with your outer fabric, but make sure it's not too dark. For instance, Minki uses a medium blue on a navy background.
6. You can customize the pouch to your own size, but remember that it will be folded in half for the pouch.
7. Always keep your binding just a bit longer than you need so it doesn't get caught under the needle.
8. Use a bit of fabric glue to hold the bindings in place.
9. Make sure that your thread color matches your zipper since it will show. Top stitch the zipper into place so it doesn't curl.
10. Minki encloses the raw edges inside the pouch using 1.5" single fold binding.
11. Trim all the threads you can before you finish, and hide anything you need to inside the seam allowances.
